YOGA

We believe that a daily embodiment practice helps to nurture the fullness of oneself and prepares you to meet each day resourced for empathy, deep listening, and energy for all that life brings. Kundalini Yoga works well as a broom that clears the path and we value our teachers Guru Dharam and Siri Sat for the neutrality and kindness they bring to these teachings and embodied movements.

TEACHERS

Guru Dharam is the School Director of the Kundalini Medicine Yoga Therapy Training, which he founded in 2007 as a safe, effective and therapeutic complement to the mechanics of western medical practice. Kundalini Medicine is informed by his 40 years experience of helping to empower many thousands of people toward a healthier and happier life.

In 1988, after qualifying with a diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine, he founded the Lotus Healing Centre, a holistic practice incorporating Kundalini Yoga Therapy and TCM. He served as the Vice Principal of the London Academy of Oriental Medicine from 1988-1996.

Guru Dharam has been teaching yoga for 40 years. In 1996, he founded the International School of Kundalini Yoga (i-SKY) in the UK with Darryl O’Keeffe, with the mission of teaching people to become yoga teachers. I-SKY has since grown into a global network of teacher trainings. Guru Dharam and Darryl also co-authored the book The Kundalini Yoga Experience.

His formal qualifications have been complemented by intensive postgraduate interdisciplinary study of indigenous healing; Kabbalah, Meso-American Shamanic Dreaming, West African healing practice, White Lotus healing, Black Hat Feng Shui and the Red Thread empowerments.

What’s in a name?

A word of explanation concerning the ‘Guru’ in ‘Guru Dharam’. Some people think is similar to ‘Padre’ or ‘Rabbi,’ indicating a minister of religion, but this is not the case. ‘Guru’ here is a name not a title.

I began practicing yoga as a 23 year old and was fascinated to learn of the notion that ‘your destiny is written on your forehead’ and that the destiny of a person has a specific sonic resonance which when articulated will remind the person of that destiny.

This is why many people adopt a ‘spiritual name’ that connects to the mind stream of their chosen mystical path.

‘Guru’ means ‘dark to light’ and by extension ‘transformation’ or ‘teacher’. ‘Dharam’ means ‘path of truth’ or ‘way of liberation’. So my name means the ‘one who walks the path of truth from darkness into the light’.

Siri Sat is a teacher of teachers. She is a master of alignment, asana and of the body. Siri Sat has a grace and balance that touch all who encounter her. She has a genuine love of dance and movement…the dance of the soul, the dharmic life, the movement of peace and consciousness. Her golden, regal energy is felt by all.

What is Kundalini Yoga?

Kundalini Yoga offers a path back to the original soul, a practice that helps remove energetic and physical barriers to wellbeing and emotional balance.  We welcome you onto your meditation cushion to do the soul work that nourishes you.  Our teachers are deeply committed and experienced practitioners who share an on-fire calling to serve and who are each on their own hero’s journey homeward. At Dream Hive, we have a shared ministry, we understand what it means to transform suffering into insight, and we know the deep personal work of healing is best done with the witness and support of community.

Kundalini Yoga is a highly effective practice incorporating yoga postures, repetitive movement, breathwork, sound/ mantra, active meditation, and deep relaxation. The main objective of these practices is to quickly balance your nervous system, glandular system, and neutral mind, to increase awareness and equanimity and move energetic blocks.
